How To Sew a Fun Fleece Hat

How To Sew a Fun Fleece Hat

I made this cute fleece hat for my daughter and she loved it. Something about this pom-pom that just makes the hat so much fun. Ok! Ok! I admit it… I made the hat for me… but my daughter assumed it was for her and took it. But hey… no big deal! This hat took no time at all to make… so I’ll just make another!

The slits closest to the side edges should be 3/4″ in from the side edges.

Have the side seam open and flat when you fold and sew the fleece to reduce bulk.

Step 14: Turn your fleece hat right sides out.

Step 15: Cut a strip of fleece fabric that is 30″ long by 3/8″ wide

Step 16: Starting at the side seam, weave the strip of fleece in and out of the slits… all the way around the hat.

Step 17: When you have both ends of the strip at the side seam… pull the strip of fleece to gather the top of the hat tight. Tie the fleece strip into a tight bow… with the loops matching the length of the other loops.

And you’re all done! Now you have a cute pom-pom fleece hat that you can wear anywhere… or give as a gift!
