How To Seam

Learning how to sew a basic seam is a sewing skill you will use for all of your sewing projects. It’s incredibly easy… and just takes some practice to perfect. Set your stitch length to 2.5 for a strong seam. And always backtack at the beginning and ending of your seam line.

  1. Ellen May Says:

Going one step further on sewing a seam….PRESS the sewn seam to set the stiches then open and press the seam, either open or to one side as desired. If you make it a habit to press each seam as you are sewing, you will find that you will end up with a much nicer finished look to all of your projects.
