One of the best professional accents you can add to a sewing project for your home is welt cording.

Instead of sewing a pillow cover, add fabric covered welt cording to the edges when sewing.

Add it to the bottom edge of your window valance.

Run it along the top edge of your mounting board.

The possiblities of using welt cording in your projects is endless... and is for another article. For this article, I'm going to give you a sneaky way of making custom welt cording... fast... and without sewing!

You will need:
--> Select the width of welt cording you want. They come in widths from 5/32" to 2".

--> Iron-On Bonding Tape 3/8" wide

--> Your fabric

Instructions:
1. Measure around the diameter of your welt cord with a tape measure

2. Cut strips of fabric - on the bias - the width of the measurement in step 1 plus 2"

3. Piece your strips together as needed to achieve the desired length of welt cord

4. Lay the welt cord in the center of the fabric

5. Peel the release paper off of the bonding tape

6. Place the bonding tape next to the welt cord

7. Fold the fabric over the welt cord and iron, with heat and steam setting.

Now you have a custom welt cord for your sewing project!

The great thing about no-sew welt cord is that there are no seams to peek through your sewing seams if you are more of a beginner sewer.

So... now lay the raw edges of the welt cord in between your layers of fabric to create a beatiful finished edge.

Happy sewing!
